Go Karting apprentices Whyy? Change Sheffield

To celebrate the recent success of our apprentices during National Apprenticeship Week we treated our apprentices to a fun go-karting event in Sheffield.

We invited our latest cohort of apprentices who have successfully completed their endpoint assessment. All of these apprentices worked hard to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours while working with Whyy Change and have become practitioners in their businesses.

Ray Byrne, Whyy’s Chief Executive, said:

“We recognise the hard work of our learners and it’s important for the apprentices to get back together as a team and celebrate their achievements. We’re really proud of everything they’ve achieved and we love celebrating this with them.”

The go-karting event really brought out the competitive side of the apprentices with an eliminator style knockout tournament. Prizes, as well as a winner’s trophy, included a wooden spoon for the driver who was knocked out first.

After the racing, we presented the apprentices with their certificates and collected testimonials from the apprentices to help us share their success and spread the word about their learning experiences and the next steps in their careers.

Lee Garlick, Supply Chain Team Leader at Melett, who recently passed his CMI level 3 apprenticeship with Whyy?, said:

“I liked the apprenticeship because it was hands-on. There was always someone to speak to if I needed anything. The help you get from tutors is a big plus. I’m hoping to do the CMI level 5 apprenticeship next.”

The event was part of a range of business meetings, open days and celebration events being held across the country to support National Apprenticeship Week.

Now in its 13th year, National Apprenticeship Week is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the benefits of apprenticeships. This year, the theme ‘Look Beyond’ celebrates the diversity in apprenticeships and brings the whole apprenticeship community together.

Keith Smith, Director, Apprenticeships Group, ESFA said:

“There is much to celebrate in apprenticeships and National Apprenticeship Week gives the whole apprenticeships community opportunity to showcase the many brilliant apprenticeships available in England today.”
